Tucked away in a little Brazilian village in 1981, there I was, 11 years old, devouring all his teaching through his amazing books. He opened up a world of transcedental beauty for my avid eyes and for that I will be forever grateful to him. This tragedy is a great lost for this world but I will be forever grateful for him to take his place into this world and light so many candles around him. Om Shanti

The million Tibetan war-dead will shout 'hooray' for this event while the tIbetans currently facing Chinese bulltes for demanding independence will eternally thankful for such a timorous self-censorship.

I feel heartfelt sadness at the news of Lobsangla's tragic death. I met him in Santa Fe in the early '90's when I was just starting to work on my book, The Life of Gampopa. He and Gisela were tirelessly kind and generous to me, embodying the highest spirit of friendship and hospitality. Lobsang served me endless Indian tea and cookies while he generously volunteered his time and knowledge in helping me with translations. I was honored and touched to be able to spend some precious hours with this great man. Lobsang truly embodied bodhichitta in his loving-kindness, compassion, generosity of spirit, refinement and graciousness. Despite his many accomplishments and relative fame, he was ever down to earth, soft-spoken and joyful. We shared many laughs together, and I will always remember his shining gentle eyes. I feel grateful and uplifted for having known him. A light has gone out of our world, but I am certain that he will benefit many beings wherever he emanates

I'm deeply moved by this news. I met him in New York over 30 years ago, when he was working on his Life of Milarepa translation with Lord Pentland and Far West Editions. He was my first connection with the Dharma. I've thought of him countless times, and treasure his translations. I was so hoping to someday see him again on trips to Taos, where I was born. He definitely changed my life and I bow deeply. With love to his family, students and friends.

Steve
Dr Bohm turned me onto your vision.
We just got back from China, and were supposed to go to Tibet but gates were closed the night before we were due to fly there.
I send you support and respect for your mission.
What can I do?

Adam,

Thank you for the info.

Yes, it is so important that the Chinese citizens get the correct information about the Dalai Lama and even Tibet. You have the Dalai Lama on the one hand talking about compassion for the Chinese. He urges Tibetans not to hate the Chinese citizens. He has even said that he prays for the Chinese very night.

And on the other hand, you have this demonizing campaign against Kundun by the Chinese. And the Chinese public seems to be buying into it. There has been a spate of vicious anti-Tibet spammers and commentrolls on blogs and on the internet lately who all identify themselves with Chinese names.

What is the solution I wonder? Is there any?

Hi Aqua,

The official site is http://www.unwinkinggaze.com/

This is what they say about DVDs on their Facebook page: "DVDs will be going on sale shortly but unlikely to be released before the theatrical release in the UK in May. Please stay in touch and we will update you as we know more."

I agree with you about current Chinese perceptions of the Dalai Lama. It is so important that they get a more accurate picture of who he is, and move away from the horrible villification and nonsense coming from the Hu clique and Xinhua.

those brave brave protestors. hats off to them.

i was shocked to see the pro-china supporters attacking a tibetan supporter on tv in san francisco.

must admit i am getting increasingly getting fed up of showing "compassion" for the chinese people when they are clearly so delusional and vicious towards tibetans.
